Freshdesk and Slack
Two jobs: telling a channel something happened, and turning a message into a real ticket. The second one is where the value sits.
What it does
Notification patterns that do not get muted
Every Slack integration starts useful and ends muted. Two rules prevent it.
Notify on action required, not on activity. A channel that pings on every update gets muted in a week, and then the escalation alert goes unread too.
One channel per meaning. Breaches in one, VIP customers in another, outages in a third. Merged into one general channel, all three get ignored equally.
The internal duplicate
Here is the pattern that catches teams out. Someone in sales posts about a customer issue and an agent raises a ticket from it. Meanwhile the customer has emailed support directly.
Two tickets, one problem, and they look nothing alike: one from the customer address, one created internally with different wording and a different requester. Manual review essentially never catches these.
Frequently asked questions
Can you create a Freshdesk ticket from Slack?+
Yes, and it is the feature worth setting up first.
Should agents reply from Slack?+
Sparingly. It is fast and it hides the conversation from everyone working in Freshdesk.
Two tickets, one problem
Internally raised tickets and customer emails look unrelated. Content matching finds them anyway.
