Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Ticket Merger.
How does duplicate ticket detection work?
Ticket Merger uses your configured rules to analyze incoming tickets in real-time. Each rule defines a set of conditions, such as matching email addresses, subject keywords, shared keywords or the same category. When a new ticket matches an existing open ticket on all conditions, it's flagged as a duplicate and automatically merged.
Do I lose data when I merge duplicate tickets?
No. Ticket history, attachments, conversation threads, and metadata from both tickets are fully preserved in the merged ticket. We never delete data. Additionally, an internal note is added to the parent ticket explaining what was merged, so your agents have a complete audit trail.
How long does setup take?
Most teams are up and running in under 30 minutes. You connect your Zendesk or Freshdesk account using your API credentials, configure your first merge rule, and Ticket Merger starts monitoring immediately. No engineering work or technical expertise required.
Can it merge duplicate tickets in more than one helpdesk?
Each Ticket Merger account connects to one helpdesk platform. If your organization runs two, for example one helpdesk for customers and another for internal IT, you manage them with separate accounts under the same subscription tier.
Can I control when Ticket Merger merges duplicate tickets?
Yes. You can configure rules to merge automatically (recommended for high-confidence rules) or to flag potential duplicates for manual review before merging. You're always in control of how aggressive the automation is.
What happens if a ticket is merged incorrectly?
Merges are conservative by design, and every merge writes a note recording the match, the score and the rule that fired, so a wrong one is easy to spot. Worth knowing: neither Zendesk nor Freshdesk offers a one-click unmerge, so recovery means reopening the closed ticket or raising a fresh one. That is exactly why it is worth starting on a single group with a tight rule and widening it only once the merges are consistently right.
Is my ticket data secure?
Absolutely. Ticket Merger connects to your helpdesk with credentials you create and can revoke at any time, using the narrowest scope that allows it to read the queue and perform merges. Ticket content is used to compute similarity and is not retained beyond the comparison window. All connections are encrypted in transit.
What counts as a "ticket analyzed"?
Every ticket that passes through Ticket Merger's rule engine is counted as one analyzed ticket. This includes tickets that are merged and tickets that are evaluated but not merged. Your plan limit resets at the start of each billing period.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. Every plan comes with a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start. If you exceed your plan's ticket limit during the trial, we'll simply notify you so you can upgrade.
Can I change my plan later?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from your account dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades apply at the next billing cycle. Enterprise customers have custom terms managed by our sales team.
