The Freshdesk Ticketing System
Structured ticketing without a configuration project, and better at merging than most of its rivals.
The moving parts
Where Freshdesk is really better
Merging. You select several tickets from the list, mark one as primary, and merge them all in one action. Conversations move onto the primary and get sorted chronologically, and each closed ticket gets a note linking to the survivor.
Zendesk and HubSpot both make you merge in pairs, and Zendesk only carries the most recent public comment across. If your queue produces pile-ups, this is a real operational advantage. See merging tickets in Freshdesk.
What it still leaves to you
Noticing. Freshdesk automation rules evaluate one ticket at a time, so no rule can say "this looks like ticket 41805".
The marketplace Auto Ticket Merger app covers some straightforward same-requester cases. For cross-channel and cross-requester duplicates, which are the expensive ones, see auto merging in Freshdesk.
Frequently asked questions
Does merging in Freshdesk lose the customer replies?+
No. Ticket Merger uses the native Freshdesk merge, so the conversation, attachments and audit history move onto the surviving ticket. The duplicate is closed with a note pointing at the original.
Can I review merges before they happen?+
Yes. Start in suggest-only mode: Ticket Merger flags the pairs it believes are duplicates and leaves the decision to an agent. Most teams run that way for a week, check the hit rate, then let the confident matches merge on their own.
What stops it merging two tickets that are not the same?+
Rules you set. Match on requester, subject similarity, body similarity and a time window, and exclude anything you want left alone, like tickets from a specific form, group or tag. Anything below your confidence threshold gets suggested rather than merged.
How long does setup take?+
About five minutes to connect, and the first scan of your open queue runs immediately after. Onboarding help is included on every plan.
Great merging, no detection
Ticket Merger supplies the missing half and uses the native Freshdesk merge to finish the job.
