Zendesk is a browser product. There's no Zendesk download for your laptop, there are several real apps and SDKs, and there are some downloads you should not run.
The Zendesk download question, answered
Zendesk does not publish a desktop application you download and install to work tickets. The agent interface is a web application, you reach it at yourcompany.zendesk.com, and that's the whole delivery mechanism.
If you wanted a proper window, a taskbar icon and desktop notifications, you can have all three without an installer by installing Zendesk as a progressive web app from Chrome or Edge. The apps that genuinely exist
Two of them, and they come from the official app stores rather than from a website.
Install both from the App Store or Google Play, and check the publisher name says Zendesk. Helpdesk apps attract impersonators for obvious reasons.
What developers mean by download
If you are a developer, "download Zendesk" usually means a library, and those are real.
Take all of these from Zendesk's developer documentation or from the official package registry for your language. Not from a mirror, and not from a search result that looks close enough.
Marketplace apps are installs, not downloads
When somebody says "download the Slack app for Zendesk", they mean install it into the account. Marketplace apps are added from inside Zendesk by an admin, they run in the interface, and nothing lands on anyone's machine.
That's a useful distinction when a colleague asks you to send them the file. There isn't a file.
Download as in "get my data out"
The other big group of searchers wants their own data on their own disk, which is entirely reasonable and entirely supported.

Do this before you ever consider leaving a vendor, not during. Exports run slower when the account is busy and slower still when you're in a hurry, and attachments are frequently the awkward part: an export gives you links rather than files, so if you need the actual attachments you're writing a script that walks them.
A quarterly export costs you ten minutes and it's the cheapest insurance in your stack.
The installers you should not run
Search results for a Zendesk download include things that aren't Zendesk. Take this seriously, because a helpdesk login is one of the most valuable credentials in a company: it reads every customer conversation you have ever had.
The pattern to be suspicious of is a page that ranks for a download term, looks convincingly like vendor documentation, and offers a setup file. Nobody legitimate distributes helpdesk software that way any more, and the effort put into the page is a signal rather than a reassurance.
If you're the admin, say all of this to your team once. Agents search for a desktop app because they want their tickets in a window, which is a reasonable thing to want, and if you don't hand them the progressive web app trick somebody will eventually find something worse.
